In the context of global academic integration, publishing research in prestigious international journals remains a top priority but also a major challenge for young scholars. To address difficulties and equip participants with practical skills, on July 26, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Open University successfully organized the seminar “How to Publish Scientific Research in Prestigious International Journals”, attracting a large number of doctoral candidates and graduate students.
The keynote speaker was Prof. K. Mathiyazhagan – President of the Research Center at Thiagarajar School of Management (India) – a renowned expert with an impressive track record. With more than 140 publications in reputable journals such as the International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Cleaner Production, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Technological Forecasting & Social Change, among others, and as Associate Editor for leading publishers including Elsevier and Springer, he delivered a comprehensive and detailed overview of the academic publishing process.
In an open and engaging atmosphere, Prof. Mathiyazhagan “decoded” the entire process, from idea development to final acceptance of a paper. He emphasized that the foundation of a high-quality publication lies in identifying a research problem that is both original and academically significant, supported by a coherent structure, transparent methodology, and reliable data. He further shared effective strategies for selecting the most suitable journals to maximize visibility. Notably, one of the most valuable aspects of his talk was his practical guidance on responding to reviewers’ comments professionally and persuasively, while highlighting common mistakes that often lead to early rejection.
A special highlight of the program was Prof. Mathiyazhagan’s commitment to supporting the young academic community. He generously shared his LinkedIn account and contact information, expressing his willingness to accompany and provide advice to doctoral candidates and graduate students on their challenging research journey ahead.
More than just a knowledge-sharing session, the seminar offered a valuable opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City Open University’s learners to gain confidence in approaching international academic forums.
