Opportunities and Challenges of AI in Digital Workforce Transformation and Scientific Research

On July 25, 2025, at the Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park, the Faculty of Special Education – Ho Chi Minh City Open University (HCMCOU) and the Hi-Tech Park Training Center successfully co-organized a scientific seminar titled “AI in Digital Workforce Transformation and Scientific Research: Opportunities and Challenges.”

The event served not only as an in-depth academic forum but also as an opportunity for both institutions to exchange practical experiences and move toward strategic cooperation in the training of high-tech disciplines.

Overview of the Program

Attending the event were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Van Thi Hong Loan, Dean of the Faculty of Special Education, representing HCMCOU, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thu, Director of the Hi-Tech Park Training Center, along with lecturers and staff from both institutions.

In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Van Thi Hong Loan emphasized: “Digital transformation and scientific research are core missions of Ho Chi Minh City Open University. Expanding the innovation ecosystem and applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an inevitable strategy to enhance academic value and training quality. This seminar is a concrete step toward realizing that strategy, opening up broad potential for collaboration between the two sides.”

She also shared the future cooperation direction, focusing on integrating practical applications into training programs — not only for students but also for lecturers and staff — by leveraging AI tools to optimize work efficiency.

The highlight of the program was a comprehensive and insightful presentation by Mr. Vo Nhat Cuong, AI Lead at OpenEdu, Hi-Tech Park Training Center. Representing (an EdTech platform integrating Blockchain and AI technologies) he provided an in-depth analysis and practical demonstration of how to effectively use AI tools in teaching and scientific research. His session sparked active discussion among participants.

Through the discussion, many important directions and practical application strategies were proposed. The lecturers explored key methodologies — from designing powerful prompts to fully harness the potential of AI, to applying the “AI to verify AI” technique to ensure the accuracy and reliability of information. In addition, methods for generating simulated lessons were shared, offering promising tools to help lecturers optimize their time and enhance the quality of their teaching materials.

In addition to the discussion session, lecturers from Ho Chi Minh City Open University also participated in a field visit to the modern Mitsubishi Laboratory, where they explored the training facilities and practical equipment used in the automation field at the Center.

This seminar continued the series of successful collaborations between the two institutions, following earlier programs such as enterprise visits, research workshops, and the “Call of Vocation” 2025 student entrepreneurship seminar.

The event concluded with strong consensus from both parties on the need for a clear and proactive strategy to harness the benefits and address the challenges of AI. It laid a solid foundation for continued cooperation — turning AI’s potential into powerful opportunities for developing the capabilities of both lecturers and learners in the future.
