On the morning of May 26, 2025, at JW Marriott Saigon Hotel – District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Open University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the world-leading hotel group Marriott International (MI). This event continues a series of signing activities aimed at strengthening connections between the university and businesses, creating opportunities for internships and employment, and improving training quality for students in the hospitality and tourism sector.
Attending the ceremony, on behalf of Ho Chi Minh City Open University were Dr. Le Nguyen Quoc Khang- Vice President of the University, and Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh- Deputy Head of the Student Affairs & Communications Department. Representing Marriott International was Mr. Mark van der Wielen – General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon. The event also welcomed faculty members, university staff, and students from various departments.
The signing ceremony was held within the framework of Career Week 2025, an initiative by Marriott International. This large-scale event attracted the participation of hundreds of promising students from 21 universities and colleges in the region.
Given the strong growth of the hospitality and tourism industry and the increasing demand for high-quality human resources, this cooperation marks an important step forward in strengthening ties between the university and enterprises, promoting practice-oriented training, and expanding career opportunities for students.
At the ceremony, Mr. Mark van der Wielen – General Manager of JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon- shared about the group’s network of properties and the core values that MI pursues. He also expressed his expectations for a long-term and effective partnership between the two sides.
After the official signing, the atmosphere became even more lively with various side activities. Attending students had the opportunity to visit Marriott International’s career fair booths, where they could learn in detail about job positions, career development pathways, and company culture. Notably, the tour of JW Marriott Saigon Hotel attracted significant student interest, offering them a direct look at the professional working environment of a world-class hotel.
