On the afternoon of April 12th, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, in collaboration with Edith Cowan University (Australia), hosted the first admissions consultation and introduction for the 2025 Master of TESOL joint program with Edith Cowan University (Australia). The event took place in the Traditional Room at Vo Van Tan Campus and was live-streamed on the “Open University – Postgraduate” Facebook page.
The program attracted significant interest from candidates passionate about English language teaching, creating a lively atmosphere with practical discussions centered on study opportunities, the curriculum, and career development potential after completing the program.
The introduction was attended by Dr. Le Thi Thanh Thu – Director of the TESOL Program at Ho Chi Minh City Open University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Glenda Campbell-Evans – International Director of Education at Edith Cowan University, along with candidates interested in the program.
The Master of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) program, in partnership with Edith Cowan University (Australia), aims to train highly skilled lecturers equipped with modern teaching methodologies and skills, suitable for the demands of contemporary English language teaching. Through this program, students gain access to in-depth, comprehensive, and up-to-date knowledge in language teaching while systematically developing their pedagogical skills. Additionally, the program provides a solid theoretical foundation and practical experience, helping students confidently apply positive and creative teaching methods, thereby contributing to enhancing the quality of English language teaching and learning.
Regarding the admission requirements for the joint Master’s program, Dr. Le Thi Thanh Thu stated: “Candidates need a bachelor’s degree in English Language Pedagogy (relevant major) or English Language (related major). For candidates with a related major, completion of an additional ‘English Language Teaching Methodology’ module is required, unless they have already studied this subject in their bachelor’s program. Furthermore, candidates must meet English language proficiency requirements with a minimum IELTS score of 6.5, with no band lower than 6.0”.
During the program, Dr. Le Thi Thanh Thu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Glenda Campbell-Evans shared detailed information on the curriculum, objectives, and orientation of the joint program and diligently answered questions from attendees. The Master of TESOL program introduction received considerable interest from teachers and candidates aspiring to advance in the field of English language teaching.
