Mandatory Visa Type (DH): To study at HCMCOU, you must hold a valid DH (Student) Visa sponsored by the university.
- You cannot study using a Tourist visa.
- You cannot change your visa status from Tourist to Student while inside Vietnam.
- If you currently hold a different visa type, you must exit Vietnam and re-enter using a new DH entry visa.
- Verify Your Stamp at the Border: Upon arrival, immediately check the entry stamp provided by the Immigration Officer. If you notice the wrong visa type or an incorrect date, inform the officer immediately to have it corrected before leaving the airport/border gate.
- Monitor Your Expiry Date: Always double-check the “Valid Until” date on your visa stamp every time you enter the country. It is your responsibility to know when your legal stay expires.
- Timely Visa Renewal: To ensure a smooth extension, you must submit your renewal application at least 5 weeks before your current visa expires.
- Strict Penalties for Overstaying: Vietnamese Immigration laws are very strict. Even a one-day overstay can lead to heavy financial fines, deportation, and potential future entry bans.

Doctoral degree
• Passport;
• Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in honors;
• Academic transcripts;
• At least one year of working experience in equivalent sectors;
• Scientific background;
• Recommendation letter of 1 Associate Professor/Doctor;
• Research Outline;
• Language proficiency certificate (if any);
• Certificates in social work and/or community activities (if any).
