Introduction

The Ho Chi Minh City Open University Library was established on February 2, 1991 and recently includes the headquarter on level 5, 97 Vo Van Tan, ward 6, district 3, Ho Chi Minh City and 4 campus libraries with opening hours (set in UTC+7) as follows:

At No. 97 Vo Van Tan

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 7.30am - 8.00pm
  • Tuesday: 7.30am- 11.30am and 3.00pm - 8.00pm
  • Sunday: 7.30am - 5.00pm

At Nhon Duc residential area, Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City (level 1, C block)

  • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 8:00am - 8:00pm
  • Tuesday: Morning 8:00am- 11:30am (General sanitary); Afternoon and evening: 3:00pm - 8:00pm

At No. 2 Mai Thi Luu, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City (Level 1, A block)

  • Monday to Saturday: 8.00am - 08.00pm

At Long Binh Tan ward, Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province

  • Solely open when the Military Training Course for Students is scheduled

At No. 68 Le Thi Trung, Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province

  • Monday to Saturday 9.00am -1.00pm and 2.00pm - 4.00pm

At No. 4 Tan Dinh, Ninh Hoa, Khanh Hoa province

  • Monday to Friday: 8.00am -5.00pm

The Library is in charge of advising the Rector on library works and providing services for the teaching, learning, training, scientific researching, and management demands of the University through the use and exploitation of resources available in the Library.

  • a) Planning long-termed and short-termed operations of the Library and being responsible for the professional works of the whole library structure.
  • b) Supplementing and developing international and domestic information resources to meet various demands of teaching, learning, researching, and technological transferring of the University and collecting resources such as university-published materials, approved scientific researches, conference proceedings, undergraduate and master theses and doctoral dissertations, textbooks, lectures, other forms of university materials, and interlibrary sponsored, donated, and exchanged publications.
  • c) Processing, sorting, storing, preserving and managing library resources based on professional standards; building appropriate lookup system; establishing automated network for information access and search; building databases and developing online-serving electronic materials.
  • d) Providing library users with polite and responsible services; giving directions on how to exploit, search for and efficiently use resources and other products of information-library through various forms of library service in accordance with State regulations.
  • e) Researching into and applying advanced scientific and technological achievements and information technology achievements to the library work.
  • f) Advising the Board of University Managers on organizing the professional fostering courses for librarians to elevate their occupational knowledge and ability, foreign languages, and information technology, thus develop high-quality human resources for higher working efficiency.
  • g) Managing assets available in the Library in compliance with the University’s regulations; periodically inventorying library collections and sorting out documents from depositories according to the State regulations.
  • h) Expanding cooperation and exchanging experience with relevant agencies.
  • i) Periodically reporting to the Board of University Managers and superiors.
