The Open Run 2019 - the long-lasting running prize of Vietnamese sports, is a part of the official competition system of for the sport of athletics in Vietnam. Ever since its inception, cross-country run has quickly becomes one of the king sports. Not only bearing the spirit of sports, but this subject also has a great community spirit and tremendous spread.

On the morning of May 12, 2019, to celebrate the 129^th Birth Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2019), towards celebrating the 29^th anniversary of founding Ho Chi Minh City Open University (June 15, 1990 - June 15, 2019), the School and Sports & Recreation Center of District 3 have organized the traditional marathon competition – The Open Run 2019. This is an annual activity, attracting the participation of nearly 2,000 students, officers - officials of the Ho Chi Minh City Open University and officials and employees of the agencies headquartered in District 3. This activity aims to promote the movement of sports, health training and physical improvement for all officials and students of the University.

The program takes place at the Campus located at No. 97 Vo Van Tan, Ward 6, District 3, with 02 different distance routes. For male students and staffs, the route has a distance of 2.5 km (through Vo Van Tan Street, Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street, and Ho Xuan Huong Street). The route is shorter, about 2 km long (through Vo Van Tan Street, Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, Ngo Thoi Nhiem Street, Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street, and Ho Xuan Huong Street) for female students and staffs. In addition to the very tough speed test from different categories of competitions, the program has also sent a message to join hands to protect the environment, reduce plastic waste when donating 1,000 reusable water bottles for the athletes participating in the running. This year's program is organized with sponsorship and companion of Nam A Bank, VietinBank, THnet, etc.

Although having to attend the program from the early morning, the athletes are still very excited and energetic with the determination to win good results in the competition. It can be clearly seen that The Open Run 2019 is not just a contest, but also an opportunity to contact and connect between the generations of officials, and students, thereby expanding the positive social relations inside and outside of University. Ho Chi Minh City Open University has been very successful in organizing such a program with high community spirit, helping the participating students to develop themselves in an opener, more practical and faster direction.

The program has received very positive feedback and evaluations from the participating officials and students. May the traditional sports program of Ho Chi Minh City Open University be further developed, and receive much attention and participation from the community.
