Ho Chi Minh City Open University always pays attention to the value of each student at school, and recognizes that English is a great advantage that help people become active in the social environment and get promotion in their careers, .... The university promotes educational methods to improve English language skills for its students; therefore, the handbooks on guiding, building, developing the foreign language learning and using environment have been experimented. Especially, the university organized two activities out of English hours at school that are “Exhibition on English learning method” and “Startup wisdom” under the guidance of the Project Management Board. On 03 June 2016, excellent individuals and collectives were rewarded and awarded at the Conference hall 202, at 35 - 37 Ho Hao Hon, District 1.

“Exhibition on English learning method” - is an activity that aims to create an environment for all students, lecturers, officers and employees of the university to share practical experiences, create opportunities for learners to find their appropriate learning strategies.  The program distributes awards into three categories that are students of English major, students of other majors, lecturers, officers and employees. The individuals who are honored to receive the First Prize in this activity are Nguyen Thi Khanh Tien - from Faculty of Business Administration (the category for students of non-English majors); Tran Ha Mi - from Online Training Center (the category for students of English major); Vu Thanh Hieu - Lecturer of Business Administration Department (the category for Lecturers).

In addition, there is the activity “Startup wisdom” that aims to practice skills of reading, summarizing, reasoning and presenting English in the form of speaking and writing.  The aim is to help students have good conditions to develop and have a good knowledge of startup, develop creative skills, independent working skills, teamwork skills, ... In addition, this activity also promotes the startup movement, attaches a great importance to the meaning of the spirit of acting and being active at work and in the life. After a period of intense competition, the Organization Committee selected the best projects among the startup ideas in the program “Startup wisdom”: The first prize belongs to Trilina Group facilitated by Ms. Pham Dinh My Loc.

The Award Ceremony of these two activities aims to promote the learning spirit of all students, lecturers, officers and employees of the university.  This is also a chance for everyone to exchange, share and learn experiences from each other.
