On the morning of June 7, 2020, Ho Chi Minh City Open University held an online conference on Scientific Research for Students of the academic year of 2019-2020 with the following main contents: summarising, assessing the achievements of Scientific Research activities of Students, Lecturers in the academic year 2018-2019; announcing the mechanisms and policies applied in the new school year 2019-2020, exchanging and answering questions from participants attending the conference.

The conference was held with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha (President of Ho Chi Minh City Open University);  Dr. Le Thai Thuong Quan (Head of Office of Cooperation and Research Management);  MSc. Nguyen Le Hoang Thuy To Quyen (Deputy Head of Cooperation and Research Management);  Mr. Tran Van Tri (Secretary of the University’s Youth Union); Dr. Nguyen The Khai (Lecturer of Faculty of Business Administration); MSc. Lao Duc Thuan (Lecturer of Faculty of Biotechnology). In addition, the winning students, Quang Trong Minh (from Faculty of Biotechnology) who won the second prize at the ministerial level; Ha Phuong Trinh (from Faculty of Biotechnology) who won the second prize at the ministerial and city level; Ha Thao Oanh (from Faculty of Business Administration) who won the First Prize at the Ministry level and a large number of lecturers together with 500 students watching through the Zoom application are also present in the conference.

Ho Chi Minh City Open University has achieved outstanding achievements in Scientific Researching in the academic year of 2018-2019, which was emphasized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha (President of Ho Chi Minh City Open University) as following:

 “Ho Chi Minh City Open University is ranked in the list of top 5 universities nationwide with effective Scientific Researching for Students, proving the strong development in quality and quantity of topics. In 2019, the University had 100 topics winning the school level. Eleven excellent topics of those were chosen to compete in the national playground which proudly brings 1 national first prize in the economic field, 3 second prizes, 2 third prizes, and 3 consolation prizes to the school. Morover, the University is also in the top 15 schools nationwide with developed Lecturers’ Scientific Researching. Also, at other large-scale research contests, representative teams have consistently won high awards in several fields. With the aforementioned impressive achievements, Ho Chi Minh City Open University was awarded certificates of merit for outstanding achievements in Students' Scientific Research activities in 2019 by The Ministry of Education and Training.

The above accomplishments were attributed to the striving for success of a team which is closely oriented and guided by Municipal Party Committee, the University’s Youth Union and the Board of Directors; the great care and proactive help from the faculties, departments; the enthusiastic guidance and dedicated support from the lecturers; and most importantly the efforts from the students themselves. Scientific Research has been and will be a strategic activity of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, as a result, the University will continue to promote and develop it by greatly investing in consulting, plagiarism testing, advance Scientific seminar activities, provide additional research materials, etc. for students and lecturers.

Scientific Researching is a long-standing tradition of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, so, it is hoped that the next generation will inherit and boost it in terms of quality and quantity. Ho Chi Minh City Open University is constantly improving to establish a modern, professional, and highly applicable university applying the motto of training and serving the community as the core values stated.
