On the night of December 25, students from the Ho Chi Minh City Open University presented about 80 gifts to people in difficult circumstances on the main road of Binh Thanh, Go Vap and downtown districts. This is an annual meaningful community activity organized by the Life Skills and Values Club - HappyU of HCMCOU since the club's establishment, with the desire to spread the sharing to the people with difficulty in society because they also need to be protected and loved. HappyU has continued to carry out the small-scale activities this year because the epidemic situation is still quite complicated.
Le Tran Cam Thu - Club President shared: " At the No Trang Long Street (Binh Thanh), I gave gifts to the kid and his grandma who were sitting on the corner of the street, selling lottery tickets. When I bent down to give gifts and sent my wishes for them, the kid’s eyes were very bright, like shining a lot of hope even though he is only about two years old. When I got in the car and looked back, the kid was still watching me until the shadow disappeared, the image of joy and belief in good things was present, I will forever remember that baby's eyes!” The cold of Saigon in the last days of the year is warmed by HCMCOU students by seemingly small things but extremely warm not only for us but also for the homeless.
Although it was a little challenging to do while the pandemic was still ongoing, that little difficulty was overcame when creating small joys for others, “I still find myself happier and luckier than others out there. I wish there were more opportunities like this to show my love, even if it's just a small part, to make up for everyone's flaws." – emotional words from Tan Loc.
Happiness will always be around us; giving will be received in return, the value received is due to each person's feelings. Volunteer activities for the community will still be carried out by the students of the University in the future.
