On the morning of May 27, 2023, the 11th International OpenTESOL Conference on Language Education was held at Room 602, 97 Vo Van Tan Street, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City Open University. The conference, titled "Innovating Pedagogy and Technology for Language Education," was conducted through both in-person and online formats.

The OpenTESOL Conference has been organized by the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Graduate School of Ho Chi Minh City Open University since 2012, with the aim of serving the language teaching community. This annual educational event is designed to develop expertise, maintain and enhance the quality of education, as well as keep up with new trends and innovative language teaching methods. It also aims to promote the research potential of lecturers, teachers, researchers, academic managers, and language research experts in Vietnam and Asia.

Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha, the President of the university, expressed his joy and stated that the conference provides an opportunity for educators from different schools to exchange and share teaching and research experiences, as well as foster collaborative relationships with scholars and organizations.

With the main theme of "Innovating Pedagogy and Technology for Language Education" the conference highlighted the complementary relationship between technology and education, with many research papers focusing on the application of AI tools (such as Chat GPT) in teaching language skills. It emphasized the AI-powered reading and writing abilities of teachers and how English teachers can familiarize themselves with and apply AI in the classroom.

Furthermore, the conference revolved around the concepts of proactive learning and research, as well as the emerging transformations in the context of technological influence. It provided educators, teachers, experts, and researchers with the opportunity to hear the latest updates in language teaching from leading experts in the field.

The conference attracted more than 300 registered participants, including scientists, managers, researchers, lecturers, TESOL and Applied Linguistics graduate students, and undergraduate students majoring in English Pedagogy, Applied Linguistics, Chinese, and Japanese from over 150 universities, educational institutions, and training centers from more than 30 countries worldwide. Additionally, OpenTESOL Conference carefully selected over 60 presentation papers from international researchers, lecturers, teachers, and graduate students from both domestic and international institutions.

The OpenTESOL Conference was honored to welcome distinguished keynote speakers who are reputable scholars in English Language Teaching and Theoretical Pedagogy, including:

- Dr. Elizabeth Plummer: English Language Specialist at RELO in Vietnam, Lecturer at the United States Pedagogical College, the United States.

- Dr. Bao Dat: Senior Lecturer at Monash University, Australia.

- Dr. Nathaniel Owen: Senior Research Director at Oxford University Press, the United Kingdom.

- Mr. Colin Finnerty: Head of Research and Evaluation at Oxford University Press, the United Kingdom.

- Mr. Andy Duenas: Teacher Training Expert at National Geographic Learning, Vietnam.
