The Traditional Race - The Open Run 2023

On the morning of June 18, 2023, at the campus located at 97 Vo Van Tan, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City Open University organized the Traditional Race - The Open Run 2023 with the theme "Act for the Environment". The Traditional Race has been held annually since 1998, coinciding with the anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890), and to celebrate the establishment of the university on June 15, 1990.  

 

In 1998, the race was first organized and has since expanded in scale, with over 2,000 participants each year. In 2023, The Open Run - the Traditional Race of Ho Chi Minh City Open University - continued to be organized with the participation not only of students and staff of the university but also high school students, officials, and teachers from various units in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.  

During the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha - the President of the university, shared: "In commemoration of the 33rd anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City Open University (June 15, 1990 - June 15, 2023), the university is organizing the Traditional Race 2023 with the theme 'Act for the Environment.' We hope that all of us can spread the spirit of physical exercise, sports, and environmental protection to everyone around us. Every day, every hour, we need to join hands to protect the environment and improve our own health. On this occasion, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the sponsors who have accompanied this program, including Vietcombank - Ho Chi Minh City Branch, Agribank - Saigon Central Branch, Nam Hoa Branch, and BIDV - Tay Sai Gon Branch".  

 

 

The Open Run 2023 is an annual event aimed at maintaining and promoting physical training, providing a healthy playground, enhancing educational exchange, and instilling discipline, teamwork, and creativity among the university's staff, students, and high school students.  

 

 

 

Athletes, including university students, staff, high school students from Marie Curie High School, Nguyen Thi Dieu High School, and officials from various organizations in District 3, participated in the competition. They competed in two categories: 2 km (university staff, female students, high school students) and 3 km (male students and university students). The race started from the University at 97 Vo Van Tan, District 3, and followed routes along Vo Van Tan, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Ngo Thoi Nhiem, Tran Quoc Thao, and Le Quy Don streets.  

 

 

 

 

Tang Thi My Lien, the first-place winner in the female individual category, expressed: "I feel excited and thrilled to achieve first place this time. Through the Open Run 2023, I want to spread positive energy to everyone, and the purpose of the competition is to protect the environment. I hope to convey this message to everyone".  

 

The results of the Traditional Cross-Country Race - The Open Run 2023 are as follows:

  • 2nd Place: Tu Cong Tuyen - Faculty of Law 
  • 3rd Place: Pham Minh Thien - Faculty of Civil Engineering  

Female Individual Category - Students: 

  • 1st Place: Tang Thi My Lien - Faculty of Information Technology 
  • 2nd Place: Le Nguyen Minh Thu - Faculty of Law 
  • 3rd Place: Pham Thi Kim Anh - Faculty of Business Administration  

Female Individual Category - High School: 

  • 1st Place: Le Pham Phuong Thao - Nguyen Thi Dieu High School 
  • 2nd Place: Le Quach Bao Tran - Marie Curie High School 
  • 3rd Place: Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh - Marie Curie High School  

Male Individual Category - High School: 

  • 1st Place: Tran Viet Huy - Marie Curie High School 
  • 2nd Place: La Gia Hung - Nguyen Thi Dieu High School 
  • 3rd Place: Pham Ngoc Hung - Nguyen Thi Dieu High School  

Mixed Team Category (Male and Female) - Students:
