On the morning of Saturday, July 8, 2023, the OU Green Plus Club, under the Student Affairs and Communication Department of the  Ho Chi Minh City Open University, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Tan Thanh Ward, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City, organized a recycling workshop for children living in Tan Thanh Ward. The recycling activity attracted the participation of children of various age groups.

Plastic recycling is an effective method to save resources, protect the environment, reduce plastic waste, and minimize harmful emissions into the environment. This activity aimed to provide children and participants with the opportunity to develop their potential and become individuals with the capacity to live and work responsibly for themselves, the environment, and society.

To promote awareness and behavior in environmental protection and reducing plastic waste among local children, five university students and members of the People’ Committee guided 25 children aged 6-16 in the practical process of recycling plastic bottles into various recycled products, such as plant pots, pen holders, and more.

Through this activity, the OU Green Plus Club hoped that the children of Tan Thanh Ward would gain valuable knowledge about environmental issues. They not only learned how to recycle used plastic bottles but also transformed seemingly disposable plastic items into useful objects like pen holders and plant pots.

The OU Green Plus Club expressed heartfelt gratitude to the People's Committee of Tan Thanh Ward, the members of the People’ Committee, and the participating children for dedicating their time to this recycling activity, promoting learning, creativity, and environmental awareness.
