Ho Chi Minh City Open University Extends Congratulations to the Laoss Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on the 49th Anniversary of the National Day of the Laos People's Democratic Republic

On the morning of November 28, 2024, a delegation from Ho Chi Minh City Open University (HCMCOU), led by Dr. Lê Nguyễn Quốc Khang – Vice Rector, visited the Laoss Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to extend congratulations on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the National Day of the Laos People's Democratic Republic. The meeting also included the participation of university leaders and Laos learners studying at the university.

The meeting provided an important opportunity for the university to express its deep respect and support for the achievements Laos has accomplished over the past 49 years. It was also a chance to strengthen the friendship between the two nations and to demonstrate the university's strong commitment to the Laos student community currently studying at HCMCOU.

On behalf of the university, Dr. Lê Nguyễn Quốc Khang extended warm congratulations to the Laos Consulate General, expressing hope for an ever-stronger and more prosperous relationship between the two nations, not only in education but across various fields.

Mr. Phonesy Bounmixay, Consul General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to HCMCOU for caring and enthusiastically supporting Laos learners. He appreciated the university’s efforts in creating opportunities and favorable conditions for Laos learners to thrive academically and feel at home in the learning environment in Vietnam.

Dr. Lê Nguyễn Quốc Khang also shared the university’s dedication to fostering a multicultural learning environment where foreign learners can maximize their potential and contribute to building a connected university community. He further announced that the university plans to offer more scholarships for foreign learners in the coming academic year, providing opportunities for them to learn and develop in a high-quality and modern educational setting in Vietnam.

Sticky Rice Making Activity – “Khao Niew” – Organized by the OU Help To Be Helped Club in Celebration of the 49th Anniversary of the National Day of the Laos People's Democratic Republic

On the afternoon of December 1, 2024, the OU Help To Be Helped Club, under the Office of Student Affairs and Communications, organized a special activity to make sticky rice (Khao Niew), a traditional Laos dish that embodies cultural values and community spirit. This event not only helped Vietnamese learners learn more about Laos cuisine but also created an opportunity for cultural exchange, learning, and fostering friendships between the two nations.

The activity attracted the enthusiastic participation of Laos learners, creating a joyful and friendly atmosphere. Beyond sticky rice decoration, participants engaged in games and shared stories about the unique cultural characteristics of both countries. The event provided foreign learners with new experiences, built new friendships, and contributed to a united and multicultural learning environment.
