On the morning of November 8, 2024, Ho Chi Minh City Open University proudly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sounkaku Company, Japan in Room 704, at 35-37 Ho Hao Hon Campus, District 1.  This partnership aims to expand career opportunities and provide real-world professional experiences for students majoring in Japanese Language Studies.

The event was honored to welcome representatives from Sounkaku Company, Japan, including Mr. Okumura Shoichi – Chief Executive Officer. On behalf of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha – President, Dr . Nguyen Thuy Nga – Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, along with faculty members and staff.

Overview of the event

In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha expressed his honor and enthusiasm for the collaboration with Sounkaku Company. He emphasized the University's commitment to application-oriented education, where theoretical learning serves as a foundation, but students are also provided with practical professional experiences to familiarize themselves with a professional working environment. Additionally, the University regularly updates industry trends to ensure that students are well-prepared for the labor market and confidently integrate into the global workforce.

Under the signed agreement, students will have the opportunity to intern in Japan as early as their first year. Each internship period will last between 10 months to 1 year, allowing students to enhance their professional skills, gain cultural insights, and improve their Japanese language proficiency.

Additionally, Mr. Okumura Shoichi – CEO of Sounkaku Company, shared his insights on enhancing the curriculum and reaffirmed the company's long-term commitment to supporting the University in developing young talent. He also praised Ho Chi Minh City Open University students for their dynamism and eagerness to learn. During the meeting, both parties engaged in active and practical discussions, focusing on key topics to help students best prepare for their internships in Japan, such as: Language proficiency requirements during the internship, advanced Japanese communication and cultural training, internship application requirements, internship schedule and duration.
