In the context of international integration, the ability to communicate in multiple languages is becoming more and more important and necessary.
Facing this trend, the 6th Annual Open TESOL 2018 conference was held to share and exchange ideas, theory and practice in foreign language teaching in different local situations. In addition, the conference also promoted the use of innovative approaches in foreign language learning and teaching to improve quality of English teaching as well as to improve research methods and methodology.
The conference was honored to welcome the participation of keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. Marc Helgesen, Fulbright Scholar, Regional English Language Office, US. Embassy in Vietnam; Senior Assis. Prof. David Campell, Department of Human Sciences, Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Japan; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh, University of Foreign Languages (Vietnam National University – Hanoi); and Dr. Bao Dat, Monash University (Australia).
Attending the conference, there were more than 200 delegates who are lecturers, researchers, scientists, managers, post-graduate students from more than 30 universities, research institutions, high schools, educational organizations: Monash University (Australia), British University Vietnam, Concordia University (Canada), Nayoga University (Japan), Hoa Lu University, An Giang University, Da Nang University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Pedagogy, Pham Ngoc Thach Medical University, Thai Nguyen University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Resources and Environment, University of Languages and International Studies (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), Ho Chi Minh City University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU, HCMC), Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, Binh Duong University, etc.
Over the conference, participants discussed and exchanged ideas about practical work experience with great enthusiasm, contributed both theoretical and practical aspects of foreign language teaching and learning to improve the quality of teaching and learning. Furthermore, the conference also provided a great opportunity for lecturers, students to meet and discuss with international experts on community-interest topics such as the science of happiness in learning and teaching; diverse perspectives on language, learners, and teaching methods; application of information technology in language teaching and learning; creativity in education, etc.
