Ho Chi Minh City Open University (HCMC OU) is an institution of higher education offering a variety of programs ranging from distance learning, on-site, learning at satellite academic centers, aiming at meeting various learning needs of society and contributing to the enlargement of the human recourses for the country. OU Distance Education Programs has been used to meet changing labor market needs and demand for higher education. The market economy has generated new motivation to learn, either for advancement in the workplace or for a change of occupation.
At the beginning of March 1993, OU Distance Education Programs was officially founded in the cooperation with The Voice of Ho Chi Minh City People (VOH) in broadcasting the lectures. Up to now Center of Distance Education owns about 27.000 students who come from everywhere ranging from Binh Dinh to Ca Mau in 40 training local centers. By August 2016, it has had 40,000 graduates of Distance Education for all specialties. It has been 25 years since we first listened to the familiar soundtrack of this program.
Based on this occasion, at 13:30 pm January 19th, 2019, Center of Distance Education held the 25th anniversary of broadcasting the OU Distance Education Programs on The Voice of Ho Chi Minh City People (VOH) ceremony. The ceremony honorably had the presence of these guests: Vice Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Phuc ( Deputy of Education and Training Ministry), Prof.Dr Cao Van Phuong (Former Principal of Ho Chi Minh City Open University), Vice Prof.Dr Le Bao Lam (Party Committee Secretary, Former Principal of Ho Chi Minh City Open University), Vice Prof.Dr Vu Huu Duc (Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City Open University). Besides, there were many attendances of lecturers, officials, and staffs of Ho Chi Minh City Open University. The ceremony was the chance to remember 25 years of forming and developing the OU Distance Education Programs, and the achievements as well for promoting and having a good orientation in the near future.
