On March 17, 2015, the ceremony for commending 5-good students at all levels of school year 2017 - 2018 and launching 5-good student movement in school year 2018 - 2019 was held at Nguyen Kiem campus, for the purposes of implementing the annual program of the Students’ Association of Open University in Ho Chi Minh City in the school year of 2018 - 2019 with regard to organizing activities of introducing, propagating and commending students who achieved the 5-good student title at all levels in the school year 2017-2018, responding to and implementing the annual program "Creative Student Year", offering a playground for students to understand more about the 5-good title, and bringing the title closer to all of the students.

Attending the ceremony, from the City's Youth Union and the Ho Chi Minh City Students’ Association, comrade Tran Thu Ha - Member of the Standing Committee - Chief of Office of the City Youth Union, comrade Dang Hoang Song Phuong - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Students’ Association; from sponsors and companion units: Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bach - Head of VisaCoop system’s representative; from Ho Chi Minh Open University's Youth Union, comrade Tran Van Tri - Secretary of the University’s Youth Union, comrade Thai Trong Nghia - Vice President of the University’s Students’ Association, comrade Doan Huu Vinh - In charge of the University’s Students’ Association, comrade Mai Quang Dat - Member of HSV the University’s Students’ Association Secretariat, along with 11 permanent representatives of the Faculties and over 800 students contributed to the success of the ceremony.

The “5-good student movement” was triggered by the Vietnam Students’ Association to create a good environment for Vietnamese students to strive, practice and perfect themselves to meet the country's development requirements in the new era. After many years of launching the movement, the “5-good student movement” of Ho Chi Minh City Open University has obtained a lot of strong development steps, good outcomes and has been widely applauded by students.

At the commendation ceremony for 40 typical students with the title “5-good students” at the Faculty level, 14 typical students received the “5-good student title” at the university level and 6 students received the 5-good student title” at the central level. This is a great encouragement for students to continue studying and practicing, striving to constantly train themselves, having passion for creation, and actively participating in volunteer movement, arts and culture and sports activities organized by the Students’ Association of Ho Chi Minh City Open University.

Besides the commendation ceremony, the Executive Committee of the Students’ Association of Ho Chi Minh City Open University also held the 5th Student Festival. With the desire to widely promote the 5-good student title to all students, the Festival organized fun and close game booths to help students understand more about the 5-good student criteria.
