The International Workshop on “Rethinking Asian Capitalism and Society in the 21st century”

On November 7, 2019 and November 8, 2019 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Southern Institute of Social Sciences collaborate with Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia and Ho Chi Minh City Open University co-organized the international workshop on “Rethinking Asian Capitalism and Society in the 21st century: An Overview Comparison of Vietnam's Achievements after 30-Year Innovation and the Forward Challenges”. The organizers have received useful papers which were sent to the workshop by more than 100 researchers, scientists, experts from many countries around the world.

Besides the research reports, the conference also have leading papers from featured professors and economists such as Professor Anne Cheng (Collège de France, France), Professor Robert Boyer (the Institute of the Americas, France), Bertrand Badre (CEO and Founder of Blue like an Orange Sustainable Capital); speakers such as Mr. Sébastien Lechevalier (President of the France-Japan Foundation), Mr. Marcin Piatkowski (senior economist of the World Bank), Professor Suthiphand Chirathivat (Chulalongkorn University, Thailand), Economist Lê Văn Cường (French National Center for Scientific Research).

There was also a seminar on the topic "Vietnam on the world map" with the guests, Ms. Ton Nu Thi Ninh (President of the Peace and Development Fund), Mr. Nguyen Tu Anh (Deputy Head of Monetary Policy Department - State Bank of Vietnam), Dr. Le Hong Hiep (expert on international affairs of Southeast Asia Research Institute, Singapore), Professor Yves Tiberghien (Institute for Asian Research , University of British Columbia).

In addition, there was a workshop on regulatory theory by Professor, Economist Robert Boyer presented earlier on November 6, 2019 at the Ho Chi Minh City Open University and a field trip to in Tien Giang province on November 9, 2019.
