On the morning of October 3, 2021, Ho Chi Minh City Open University held the Opening Ceremony for Online Bachelor's program - course 03/2021 via Zoom. Attending the Ceremony were business leaders from VNPT Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Do Quang Trang - Director of Sales Department of Gia Dinh Area; From HCMCOU, we honorly welcomed Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha – The President, Dr. Le Nguyen Quoc Khang – Vice President, Dr. Phan Thi Ngoc Thanh – Director of E-Learning Center, along with representatives who are leaders of Faculties, Departments, Offices and especially there were participation of freshmen - Course 03/2021.

This is the second time that the Opening Ceremony for Online Bachelor's program took place on-screen due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. In this Course, the University Board will grant scholarships which cover 50% of tuition fee to freshmen who had graduated with Bachelor honors in Business Administration major (1994) in HCMCOU. One of our freshmen, Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hung was born in 1953, matriculated in Law Studies with the desire to improve his legal expertise to support disadvantaged and difficult people within the locality when facing legal problems in life and to become a studious role model for the young generation.

With the motto "Students-Centered” and constantly accompanying learners to successfully complete their learning goal and develop their career, the Online Bachelor's Program at Ho Chi Minh City Open University is considered as the most advanced training program in current period, by applying useful features of technology to teaching activities, helping learners keep up with learning trends in the world and able to access to knowledge sources at all times and everywhere. Up to now, after 5 years of implementation (2016 – 2021), with more than 7,000 students across the country and neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Philippines, etc., the Online Bachelor's program of Ho Chi Minh City Open University has always received high praise from the society.

The University cooperates in enrollment and training with many agencies, organizations and businesses such as Tien Giang Provincial Communist Youth Union, Hanoi Community College, Ca Mau Community College, Youth Worker and Labor Support Center, Vietnam Airport Ground Services Company Limited (VIAGS) – Tan Son Nhat Branch, TANCANG Human Resource Development Limited Company – STC, Viettel – CHT Company Limited, Vnpt Ho Chi Minh City - Branch of Telecommunication Service Corporation Business Center and LIX Detergent Joint Stock Company. Accordingly, the University will continue to implement short-term online courses, such as TOEIC test preparation, TOPIK Korean test preparation and Vietnamese courses for foreigner learners to meet the diverse learning needs of the community increasingly.

In the context of the Covid-19 epidemic, this schoolyear, HCMCOU promptly promoted the strength of information technology in training organization, successfully completed the organizational work for online teaching and learning via the HCMCOU’s online learning system - LMS. In addition, the research and implementation of paid-for Video Conferencing platforms has met the needs of effective teaching and learning, online meetings, which greatly contribute to ensure the University's Training and Development Plan under the epidemic situation.
