Ho Chi Minh City Open University receives Education Quality Accreditation according to the current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

On the morning of March 28, Ho Chi Minh City Open University organized a Certificate Award Ceremony for training programs which meet the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. Specifically, the accredited training programs include: Management Information System, Economic Law, Chinese Language, Sociology. The 04 training programs mentioned above of the HCMC Open University have been evaluated/recognized by the Quality Management Department, the Ministry of Education and Training, have completed the self-assessment reports, have been accredited, and met the quality standards. These training programs meet up to 90% of the qualifications and will be valid for 5 years from January 22, 2022.

 

Attending the ceremony, on the side of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha - President, Dr. Le Nguyen Quoc Khang – Vice President, Heads of Departments and lecturers, academic staff of the University. In addition, the school was honored to welcome: Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Quang Giao - Deputy Director of Center for Education Accreditation of of Đà Nẵng University and Master Huynh Ngoc Thanh - Deputy Head of Center for Education Accreditation of of Đà Nẵng University.

 

Speaking in the opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha - President of Ho Chi Minh City Open University stated: “This result, in effect, is the beginning not only for the four accredited disciplines’ innovation and quality development, but also as a basis for the remaining programs in undergraduate and postgraduate levels.” Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha added: “As of March 2022, the University has 5 Master’s programs, 3 Bachelor’s programs attaining FIBAA standards, 4 Bachelor’s programs meeting the educational quality standards of the Ministry of Education and Training and 4 Bachelor’s programs meeting the AUN-QA standards”.

 

Sharing at the ceremony, Assoc. Dr. Nguyen Quang Giao - Deputy Director of Center for Education Accreditation of Đà Nẵng University assessed: Upon the accreditation, 4 training programs of the HCMC Open University have fully qualified and officially received Decision and Certificates on educational quality accreditation on January 22, 2022 by the Center for Education Accreditation of Đà Nẵng University.

 

On behalf of leaders of 4 faculties meeting the educational quality accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education and Training, Assoc. Dr. Du Ngoc Bich - Dean of the Faculty of Law expressed her gratitude to the academic departments that facilitated the accreditation process, and at the same time, there will be improvement and several constraints to address in order to promote the curriculum developments”.

 

In addition, as of March 2022, there are 8 training programs of HCMCOU that meet the quality standards of FIBAA, including: Accounting, Economics, Finance - Banking, Business Administration, Theory and Methodology of Teaching English, Auditing, Economics, Business Administration. In which, there are 5 Master’s programs and 3 Undergraduate programs respectively.

 

FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) – a non-profit organization for higher education assurance and development. FIBAA operates globally and utilizes International European accreditation standards assigned by 48 nations. Currently, FIBAA Accreditation certificate is one of the most prestigious and recognized certificates in the world for its rigor and high requirements for lecturers, program design, practical applicability, service, facilities as well as learners’ quality.

 

Currently, HCMC Open University consists of 13 faculties and 38 undergraduate majors; in which, there are 11 disciplines that provide advanced training; 12 for MA and 5 for Ph.D vary in three academic fields: economics, engineering and humanities. Earlier in the 2020-2021 academic year, the University proposed a major in Food Science and Technology, Korean language, Computer science (advanced learning), and Chinese language. There are nearly 31,000 learners currently studying at all levels with 30,000 bachelors (including full-time, part-time training courses and distance education), 970 masters and 59 doctors. HCMC Open University offers the most flexible and obtainable methods of education to learners such as: on-site and distance learning, e-learning and part-time education, working while studying./.
