Recently, in the field of Economics, Econometrics and Finance, HCMC Open University ranked second among 13 Vietnamese universities and 288 out of 1,854 universities in the world, in accordance with the prestigious ranking of research institutions in 2022 published by SCImago.

Being recognized and ranked in the top 2 Vietnamese universities in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2022 is a great motivation for the University to make constant efforts to improve the quality of teaching and scientific research.

Founded in 2009, SCImago is a prestigious ranking used by the Ministry of Science and Technology (Vietnam) and the Nafosted Foundation for the assessment process. The Scimago is published annually based on 3 key criteria:

• Research efficiency (50%): based on the Output, Excellence and Normalized Impact of the institutions;
• Innovation achievement (30%) which is calculated by the number of patent applications and the total output in the areas cited in patents;
• Social impact association (20%) based on the number of pages associated with the institution’s URL, number of Backlinks and discussions on social media.
