On March 31, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City Open University held the Decision Announcement and awarding of Certificate of Quality Accreditation of Educational Institutions Ceremony (cycle 2) at campus 97 Vo Van Tan, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Minister of Education and Training shared: “Achieving quality accreditation standards in the 2nd cycle, 2023-2028 period is the constant effort in scientific research and effective implementation of the training programs in accordance with the mission of the University. Although this period has higher requirements than the previous, the Ho Chi Minh City Open University has successfully completed and achieved the expected results. This is a new journey, and the great achievements over the past years is a powerful motivation for the University to make breakthrough progress in the upcoming time.

On behalf of HCMCOU, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha – President shared: “This is an important and meaningful occasion for the University to affirm its training quality to the society. The recommendations of the external evaluation team and the Resolution of the Education Accreditation Council have formed the development orientations for the university; through identifying the strengths and weaknesses, the University's academic staff continue to improve activities, hence, the training quality, scientific research, International cooperation and community service, this has confirmed that the University has all the standards and conditions to meet the needs of human resource training for the country and gradually reach the international integration level. The school is committed to constantly renewing its determination to successfully carry out the mission of the University. 

Since its establishment, Ho Chi Minh City Open University has made constant progress and is recognized by society, organizations and many individuals, such as: ranking 325th (compared to 349th position in 2021) ) out of a total of 1,485 universities in Asia; and ranked 14th among 24 universities in Vietnam, announced by the prestigious Spanish scientific research institution ranking organization - SCImago. As the only representative of Vietnam to be nominated for Top 8 in the category of teaching and learning strategy - Asia Education Award - The Awards Asia 2020.

In addition to the results of the accreditation of educational institutions in 2017. Up to now, the school has 5 master's degree programs that were awarded the certificate of Education Quality Accreditation by FIBAA, and 3 training undergraduate programs were awarded the certificate of Education Quality Accreditation by FIBAA, 04 Undergraduate programs were recognised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), 4 Undergraduate programs reaching educational quality according to standards of AUN-QA". 

The University continues to be one of the leading Universities in Scientific Research for Lecturers and Students; Every year, more than 200 businesses and organizations cooperate with the university to promote activities that contribute to the community and society; More than 89% of graduates have jobs after graduation. The first university to provide the community with free courses on the VMOOCS.VN platform, and foster Information Technology in teaching and management. The University’s Science Journal is included in ACI and is highly ranked in Vietnam. 

The Decision Announcement and the awarding of Certificate of Quality Accreditation of Educational Institutions Ceremony not only enhances the prestige and quality but also is an important step forward, affirming the achievements and efforts that the University has achieved in the field of education.
