Hanoi, May 13, 2024 - Ho Chi Minh City Open University (HCMCOU) and Hanoi Open University jointly organized the National Conference "Digital Transformation in Open Education Promotes Lifelong Learning and Builds a Learning Society" in Hanoi. The conference aimed to promote digital transformation in general and digital transformation in education in particular, contributing to the building and development of a learning society in Vietnam.
Attending at the Conference, there were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - Minister of Education and Training; Dr. Phan Tam - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Mai Huong - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Council of Hanoi Open University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhung - President of Hanoi Open University; Dr. Do Sa Ky - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Council of Ho Chi Minh City Open University; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha - President of Ho Chi Minh City Open University.
More than 300 delegates attending in person and online, including leaders of management units, educational institutions, experts, scientists, and businesses.
Strengthening Digital Transformation in Education
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhung said that digital transformation in all fields is both a need and a requirement.Accordingly, the conference was organized with the goal of strongly promoting comprehensive digital transformation in education and training, especially open education to create equal learning opportunities for people, promote lifelong learning for each individual and the whole society, contribute to improving the quality of human resources to meet the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and international integration.
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son emphasized the role of educational institutions at all levels,cultural institutions from central to local, the community, and the support of the international community, together with central agencies in digital transformation, contributing to fundamental and comprehensive education innovation,providing human resources with full capacity, skills, and attitudes - to meet the strong development of the digital economy and society.
Appreciating the quality, timeliness, and practicality of the conference, and the close cooperation between universities in research, support, and community service, Minister Nguyen Kim Son hoped that the conference would achieve positive results, contributing to the sustainable development of the country.
Ho Chi Minh City Open University focuses on promoting the application of information and communication technology in management, teaching, and learning.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ha - President of the University shared that, with more than 30 years of establishment and development, the two open universities have been established with diverse and flexible training forms to meet the diverse learning needs of society. With the role and mission of the two universities since their establishment, the organization of this conference is one of the contributions with the hope of summarizing domestic and international experiences, thereby providing a basis for the work of management, policy orientation in open education, contributing to the building of a learning society.
