Ho Chi Minh City Open University continues to affirm its position by being ranked in the top 1,201-1,500 universities globally and in the top 5 in Vietnam, according to the Times Higher Education 2025 rankings announced on October 9, 2024. These rankings are based on the indicators: Teaching quality, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook.

Carrying out the mission of “Open Education"
With the mission of providing open education and creating equal access to higher education for everyone through flexible, convenient, and effective methods, Ho Chi Minh City Open University constantly strives to enhance education quality to meet both national and international standards. The university's teaching quality is highly regarded, with a team of experienced lecturers and advanced training programs meeting the needs of both local and international learners. All training programs meet quality accreditation standards certified by reputable international and national organisations: 13 training programs have been awarded quality accreditation certificates meeting standards by FIBAA (Europe), 4 training programs by AUN-QA (Southeast Asian University Network), and 19 training programs by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET). Currently, the university continues to carry out accreditation of the remaining undergraduate and postgraduate training programs.
The university also continuously builds an effective research environment, providing financial support, evaluation processes, classification, and scientific journal publication, creating favourable conditions for scientific and innovative projects. Along with that, research quality is affirmed through many research projects with high practical value, published in renowned international journals such as ISI and Scopus. Annually, the number of scientific works published exceeds 700, with more than 250 listed in ISI/Scopus. The university's scientific journals are also constantly developing, currently with 7 specialised journals published monthly in both Vietnamese and English, with 2 journals included in the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI).
The university also actively promotes applied research and develops close cooperative relationships with businesses and organisations in the industry, bringing advanced and practical solutions to society. Annually, the university signs cooperation agreements with more than 200 businesses and organisations in the country to support learners in connecting theory and practice, creating high-quality human resources for society.
With an increasingly broad international vision, Ho Chi Minh City Open University has continuously attracted international cooperation and exchange relationships, bringing numerous global learning and research opportunities to learners, contributing to improving training quality and affirming its position on the world education map. Joint training programs with foreign countries such as Program with Flinders University (Australia), Bond University (Australia), ROUEN University (France), the Vietnam-Belgium Postgraduate Program (Solvay Business School, ULB), Postgraduate Program with Edith Cowan University (Australia), Postgraduate Program with Fresenius University (Germany), Postgraduate Program with Southern Queensland University (Australia), Doctoral Program with Southern Queensland University (Australia).

Ho Chi Minh City Open University consistently ranks high on ranking platforms
Ho Chi Minh City Open University has continuously achieved proud rankings on prestigious regional and international rankings. In 2020, the university made its mark by ranking among the Top 8 Asian universities in terms of teaching and learning strategies, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking organisation. By 2022, the university further climbed the rankings, placing 15th in Vietnam and 325th in Asia on the Scimago Institutions Rankings while maintaining its 15th position in Vietnam and 119th in Southeast Asia, according to Webometrics. Notably, in 2023, Ho Chi Minh City was honoured to be one of 9 higher education institutions in Vietnam listed in THE's Impact rankings, with an outstanding achievement of ranking in the top 101-200 globally for climate action.
In 2024, the university was one of 13 institutions in Vietnam featured in THE's Impact Rankings and ranked 16th among universities in Vietnam in the Webometrics rankings and Scimago rankings.
