On January 5 and 6, 2019, Ho Chi Minh City Open University participated in the enrollment counseling day at Dong Nai University (organized by Thanh Nien newspaper) and at Tay Ninh Pedagogical College (under the organization of Tuoi Tre Newspaper). The program attracted the participation of 134 counseling centers of 79 universities, colleges and vocational schools nationwide, with the attention of thousands of students and parents in the region.

At the booth of the Ho Chi Minh City Open University, the Admission Advisory Board received many questions about the training disciplines, admission criteria, admission faculties, facilities, training quality, tuition fees, etc. of Ho Chi Minh City Open University in 2019 and the students were whole-heartedly consulted.

In 2019, Ho Chi Minh City Open University announced its planned enrollment plan with 3,900 students. In particular, it is noteworthy that in addition to continuing to directly consider admission and prioritizing admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the University will consider enrolling excellent high school students, with an opportunity to receive a full scholarship for 4 years of study or 1 year. Accordingly, the conditions for registering direct admission for excellent students include: graduating from high school in 2019, having good conduct in 3 years of high school, having 3-year academic results with good grade and the grade average point of subjects in the admission combination in 3 years of high school of not less than 7.0.

The University will simultaneously use multiple admission methods in 2019. In addition to the results of the national high school examination in 2019, the University will supplement the admission method based on reviewing of the results of subject combination in 3 high school years. Particularly for the method of transcript review, the grade for receiving applications is 20 or more (excluding the priority score). The admission scores are converted to 30-scale and rounded to 2 decimal places. Candidates are considered according to the descending order of scores for each major. In case there are many candidates with the same admission scores, the University will prioritize admission according to the main subject's average score in the admission combination.

Especially, this year, Ho Chi Minh City Open University will enroll 3 new branches: Marketing, Economics and Computer Science.
