Students of Ho Chi Minh City Open University won excellent prizes at the competition of "National Scientific Research Done by Students 2019" organized by the Ministry of Education and Training

The "Scientific research done by students" is a prestigious award for students who are passionate about scientific research nationwide organized by the Ministry of Education and Training in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Union of of Science and Technology Vietnam. Over the last years, the award has contributed to promoting the scientific research movement of college students across the country. On the morning of December 1, 2019, the final round and the award ceremony of the "National Scientific Research Done by Students 2019'' took place with the participation of representatives of various universities. Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Training - Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Phuc attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.

In 2019, the award attracted a total of 419 scientific research projects of students. The subjects include 6 fields: Natural sciences, Engineering and Technology sciences, Medical sciences, Agricultural sciences, and Social sciences and humanities. Projects have undergone preliminary evaluation rounds since October 2019. the Organizing Committee then selected 72 projects to be competed in the final round with 10 first prizes, 62 second prizes, 89 third prizes and 118 consolation prizes.

Following the passion for scientific research and the success of previous competitions, this year, the scientific research topics of students and instructors of Ho Chi Minh City Open University continued to be highly assessed and were honored to achieve: 01 First Prize, 03 Second Prizes, 02 Third Prizes and 02 Consolation prizes.

01 First Prize awarded to:

o   "Relationship between emotional intelligence and educational achievement - the relationship between emotional intelligence and student achievement" conducted by the following group of students: Duong Minh Tuyet, Tran Yen Nhi, Ha Thao Anh, and Phung Thi Nhu Y;  Instructor Dr. Nguyen The Khai.

03 Second Prizes awarded to:

o   "Disclosure of first polymorphic molecular data BARTs in Vietnamese nasopharyngeal cancer patients infected with Epstein-Barr virus" conducted by the this group of students: Nguyen Hoang Danh, Quan Trong Minh, K'Trung  Nghia, Ha Thi Phuong Trinh, Phan Dang Hoang Nam;  Instructor MSc. Lao Duc Thuan;

o   "Investigation into chemical composition and production process of medical products to reduce blood sugar from Lumnitzera littorea leaves grown in Can Gio mangrove forest" conducted by group of students: Le Linh Ngoc, Bui  Thanh Tung, Do Thi Ngoc Mai, Nguyen Thi Thuy and Phan Nguyen Hoang Cau;  Instructor MSc. Nguyen Thi Le Thuy.

o   "Combining local characteristics and deep learning to solve the problem of image-based material classification" by student Phan Van Hoai Duc, Instructor Dr. Truong Hoang Vinh.

02 Third Prizes awarded to:

o   "The first molecular data set of its genes, nrLSU, nrSSU of fungi belonging to Cantharellus genus collected from pine forests of Da Lat, Lam Dong" by the following group of students: K 'Trong Nghia, Ngo Van Tai, Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh, Nguyen Thanh Nga, Nguyen Thanh Tung;  Instructor MSc. Lao Duc Thuan.

o   "Quality of urban life – a case study in HCMC" by student Le Truong Duy Lam;  Instructor Dr. Van Thi Hong Loan.

02 Consolation Prizes awarded to :

o    “Isolating some endogenous bacteria and identifying the chemical structure of active element preventing Staphylococcus aureus atcc 43300 (MRSA) from Eleutherine subaphulla Gagnep by the group of students: Nguyen Xuan Sanh, Nguyen Doan Thanh  Liem, Nguyen Thi Lanh, Dinh Thi Thuy Kieu and Luong Thi Cam Van;  Instructor MSc. Duong Nhat Linh.

o   "Impact of Logistics development on economic growth in Asean countries" by the group of students: Le Viet Manh and Nguyen Ba Ngoc;  Instructor MSc. Vo Thi Ngoc Trinh.

For many recent years, Ho Chi Minh City Open University has focused on investing and optimally developing scientific research projects of students and lecturers. The quality of scientific research papers is getting better and better, including internationally and nationally published articles that are developed and applied in practice.
